Project: Survey Collation System
Overview: Android Mobile application to collect survey data
Project link: Internal App
HEARD (Health Economics and HIV and AIDS Research Division) a branch of the UKZN is a leading applied research center with a global reputation for its research, education programmes, technical services, partnerships and networks, devoted to addressing the broad health challenges of Africa. They needed a way to move away from paper based survey collections for a large project they were undertaking that required surveys to be conducted in multiple languages across several countries in Sub Saharan Africa.
We took the paper survey and converted it into a simple to use Android application with multi language support. Thousands of SMS’s were deployed to survey participants to keep them informed about Safe Sex methods and to remind them of follow up visits at the clinics. Data from multiple countries is currently collected by one single set of servers and is automatically processed and emailed periodically
Mobile App
The mobile app is created using ReactNative
API
The API is built using Django and the Django Rest Framework. The thousands of SMS’s are sent using a service written in Elixir
